With a heavy heart, we share the passing of Mr. Toby Myers, a retired Navy Veteran and beloved member of the Colon, Michigan community. Toby died on November 18, 2025, just weeks after his retirement, following a courageous battle with stage four lung cancer. Surrounded by his family in his final moments, Toby left this world with dignity, love, and the cherished memories of a life well lived.
Born with a spirit of service and resilience, Toby dedicated much of his life to the United States Navy, where he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His years of service were marked by discipline, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to his country. Fellow sailors remember him as a leader who guided with compassion and strength, always willing to mentor and support those under his command. His military career was not only a testament to his professionalism but also to his deep sense of duty and honor. Beyond his service, Toby was a devoted father, friend, and neighbor. He lived in Colon, Michigan, where he built a life centered on family and community. His daughter, Rebecca, was his pride and joy, and he poured his love and energy into ensuring her well-being. Friends recall his warm personality, his quiet strength, and his ability to bring comfort and encouragement even in difficult times.
Toby’s battle with cancer was met with bravery and grace. Despite the challenges, he remained steadfast, finding joy in the presence of his loved ones and offering strength to those around him. His resilience and faith inspired many, leaving behind a legacy of courage and devotion.His passing has placed a heavy burden on his family, particularly Rebecca, who now faces the unexpected costs of end-of-life arrangements. The community has come together to support her, reflecting the love and respect Toby earned throughout his life.
