In Loving Memory of Amber Czech
Wright County, Minnesota — November 11, 2025
With a heavy heart, we share the tragic passing of Ms. Amber Czech, a 20-year-old welder whose life was senselessly taken in a violent incident at her workplace in Cokato, Minnesota, on November 11, 2025. Amber’s death has left her family, friends, colleagues, and the broader construction community in shock and mourning, as they remember a young woman whose determination, professionalism, and compassion shone brightly in all she did.
Amber had recently completed a 10-month welding course and was proud to begin her career at Advanced Process Technologies, a manufacturer of processing equipment for the food and dairy industries. She was admired for her ambition, her dedication to her craft, and her ability to inspire others with her resilience and kindness. Her colleagues recall her as a promising tradeswoman who embodied the very best of the construction workforce. Her passing is not only a devastating loss for her loved ones but also a painful reminder of the challenges faced by women in the trades. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) expressed that Amber’s murder is part of a disturbing pattern of hostility and violence that must no longer be tolerated. NAWIC leaders have called for systemic changes to ensure that every tradesperson is protected, respected, and valued in their workplace.
The North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) also mourned Amber’s death, describing her as a symbol of determination and compassion. NABTU President Sean McGarvey emphasized that Amber’s life and legacy must serve as a call to action, inspiring renewed efforts to make construction sites places of opportunity, safety, and solidarity. Amber’s family, friends, and community will remember her for her warmth, her courage, and her commitment to building a better future. Though her life was cut tragically short, her legacy will endure as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the importance of protecting and uplifting every worker.
