In Loving Memory of Ms. Sandy Labyris
With a heavy heart, we share the unexpected passing of Ms. Sandy Labyris, founder of Everyday Activists, who departed this life yesterday. Her death has left family, friends, colleagues, and the broader community in profound grief.
Sandy was more than an organizer—she was a true force of nature, a woman whose passion for justice and equality inspired countless others. She believed deeply in the America she wanted to see, and she did not simply speak about change—she worked tirelessly to make it happen. Through her leadership, she organised weekly protests at Aurora and 205th, welcoming everyone with open arms and encouraging them to stand together for a better future.
Her vision was rooted in inclusivity, compassion, and courage. Sandy’s ability to inspire others was unmatched; she gave people hope, strength, and the belief that their voices mattered. She was admired not only for her activism but also for her kindness, her warmth, and her unwavering commitment to community. The suddenness of her death has left an irreplaceable void. Yet, her legacy will endure in the lives she touched and the movements she helped build. Sandy’s work was not about recognition—it was about people, about justice, and about creating a world where everyone could thrive. Her memory will continue to guide and inspire those who carry forward her mission.
As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the life she lived. Sandy will be remembered for her courage, her generosity, and her relentless pursuit of justice. She showed us that activism is not reserved for the few but is the responsibility of us all. Her example will remain a beacon of hope for generations to come. We trust that Sandy is now at peace, embraced in eternal rest. Our prayers are lifted for her family, friends, and all who mourn her passing, that they may be surrounded by strength, comfort, and healing during this time of loss.
Let us honor Sandy not for the sadness of her death, but for the beauty of her life and the impact of her work.
