Suspect in Deadly Myrtle Beach Restaurant Shooting Released on Bond
With a heavy heart, we share this message. The community of Myrtle Beach continues to grapple with the aftermath of a tragic shooting that claimed the life of a young man and injured another. Records now confirm that Evany McCray, 17, the suspect charged in connection with the deadly incident, has been released from custody.
According to jail and public records, McCray bonded out of the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on November 12, 2025. The bond, set at $75,000 surety, was approved two days earlier on November 10, as confirmed by Tonya Root, spokesperson for the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
McCray was arrested following the June shooting inside Peaches Corner, a well-known restaurant located in the 900 block of North Ocean Boulevard. Authorities charged him as an adult, despite his age, due to the severity of the allegations. He faces multiple charges, including murder and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Court documents reveal that McCray admitted to officers after his arrest that he shot Grayson Meyers, 18, who tragically died from his injuries. Police reports state that McCray, who was employed at Peaches Corner, opened fire inside the restaurant after a fight broke out between him and Meyers.
The violence did not end there. Another individual was injured during the incident. According to warrants, the second victim was crossing the street at 9th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard when a bullet traveled through the restaurant window and struck him in the right leg.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department continues to investigate the case, which has shaken both residents and visitors of the popular tourist destination. The release of McCray has reignited conversations about public safety, youth violence, and the justice system’s handling of serious crimes involving minors.
As the legal process unfolds, the family of Grayson Meyers mourns the devastating loss of their son, while the injured victim recovers from the trauma of that night. The community remembers Grayson for his youth, promise, and the life cut short far too soon.
This case serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of addressing violence with urgency and compassion.
RIP Grayson Meyers (2007–2025)
