With a heavy heart, we share the sad news of the passing of Mr. Wilton Groomes, a 74-year-old man whose life was tragically cut short following a motorcycle accident in Belton, South Carolina. His death was formally pronounced on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Prisma Health Greenville, more than a week after the crash. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office has ruled his manner of death as accidental.

On the afternoon of November 12, 2025, Wilton was riding north on Amity Road, crossing Belton Highway, when a car traveling south failed to yield and turned in front of his motorcycle. Despite wearing a helmet, the collision caused Wilton to be ejected from his motorcycle. He was immediately taken to AnMed by EMS and later flown to Prisma Health Greenville, where he bravely fought for his life until his passing.

Wilton will be remembered as a man of strength, kindness, and resilience. His family, friends, and community recall his warm spirit, his love for adventure, and his unwavering dedication to those he cared for. He was not only a motorcyclist but also a devoted son, brother, father, and friend whose presence brought joy and comfort to those around him. Though his journey ended unexpectedly, Wilton’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched. Friends remember his laughter and his ability to bring light into difficult moments, while family members treasure the memories of his guidance, support, and affection. His passing is a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with those we love.

As we grieve, we also celebrate the life Wilton lived. He will be remembered not for the accident that claimed his life, but for the way he lived—with dignity, compassion, and love. Our deepest condolences are extended to Wilton’s family and friends during this time of sorrow. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire strength and unity among those who mourn him.
